What the Hell is Web3?
Timi Ajiboye (CEO, Hellicarrier) talks web3, its use cases and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Africans to help shape the internet.
To a lot of people on the internet, the term “web3” feels like yet another buzzword that gets thrown around by crypto enthusiasts. While a bunch of articles have been written in the past year with the aim of explaining this looming internet evolution, most of them feel a little too technical.
This is why ConTech Africa sat down with Timi Ajiboye, a software developer and entrepreneur based in the UK, to answer the question: “what the hell is web3?” Timi co-founded and currently runs Helicarrier, one of Africa’s leading cryptocurrency companies. He also co-authored The Little Bitcoin Book.
On why he’s passionate about Africans understanding and coming onboard the web3 train, Timi said:
“It’s so rare for you, especially as an African or someone who grew up outside the west, to exist at a time where you can actually take part in shaping the next evolution of the internet. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime sort of opportunity.”
“What the hell is Web3?” is a ConTech-produced podcast seeking to explain web3, its use cases and how African creators in tech can get in on the ground floor of what promises to be a revolution.
